How do I and when should I transfer?

I want to know when should I transfer to ivy league schools, so the ivy leagues can ignore my decent gpa and sat score. Should it be after the first year so ivy league schools know wat I am capable of, or after two years so they understand me more? Also, can I transfer to another college whenever I want (freshman sophomore junior senior) ?

I’ll be blunt. You’re wasting your time.

It’s clear you’re after a “name” vs. the actual educational experience. Besides almost perfect academics, the next single most important eval factor is a compelling reason why that Ivy can offer that you can’t get from your current institution. Since you’re likely one or two weeks into college at most, I’ll bet you have no idea.

Please let drop this Ivy chase. If you were even halfway a decent candidate for any of them, then you’re immensely qualified to have a wonderful collegiate experience at your current college. It’s not who confers your eventual degree – it’s how you and what you make of your 4/5 years of college.

I have my Ivy degree – been there done that. Your perception that an Ivy label is all there is, makes me sad.

I am just asking for an answer not criticism thanks anyway

Here is an article that offers a lot of good advice about transferring, mainly covering the basics: http://www.princetonreview.com/college-advice/transferring-colleges

And this is an article specifically on transferring to an Ivy League: http://blog.transferedu.com/all/ivy-league-transfer-9-rules-for-getting-the-ultimate-acceptance-letter/

I hope you ultimately get to go where you most want to be, OP.

Some one please actually answer my question and not just talk about unrelated matters

Thanks

Most Ivies have lower acceptance %ages for transfers than they do for freshman admits. If you didn’t make it in before the chances are NOT good you’ll do it later. And I believe they all consider HS records for the transfer.

From your few posts here I can tell that you will not be admitted as a transfer student to an ivy league caliber
school.

The transfer applications are due later than the freshman applications, so check with the schools to which you are applying. But if you’ve just started college, why not give yours a try? You may find that you really like it. Plenty of schools will give you a top quality education. If yours isn’t one of them, then try to look beyond the Ivies when you apply to transfer. The Ivies aren’t all the same, for one thing, and by lumping them together as a goal, you make it clear that you want the prestige and not the education. Ad comms can see through that.

Love how most people here don’t know how to read. I did not ask for what my chances are getting into ivy league, but when is the best time to transfer if my scores aren’t that good.

Plz read my question 99 times so u can actually give me a decent answer. If these questions are a test and I am a teacher, I would fail you guys for not answering the question and writing things I never asked for. Hope you guys learn from this.

To answer your questions directly you can apply to transfer after any semester. As for when to apply for transfer to an Ivy, you can apply any time but it will be a waste of time and money.

Go to the seven Ivies that accept transfers and look up transfer students. Some take Sophomores, some take Sophomores and Juniors. There you go. But none will overlook your HS records. Thus given the ultra competitive nature of the transfers, you’ve been given the “heads up” advice that you’re not a realistic candidate. I sincerely hope you expand your list of target transfer colleges or else you’ll be left with nothing but frustration.

As I mentioned in my earlier reply, the #1 factor for transfer accepts is a compelling reason for transfer accompanied by flawless academic background. And even with that, you’re looking at mostly single digit admit rate. Use that to guide your steps. Ignore it at your own peril.

Sincerely, good luck to you on your collegiate path.

I think you’re so intent on getting the answer that you want that you’re not hearing the answer you’re getting. The answer is that the Ivies won’t ignore subpar scores, so there isn’t a “best time.”

That doesn’t mean you can’t apply for a transfer. You’ll have to check each college website to see what their policies and deadlines are. If you apply to transfer as a junior, you’ll be applying in the fall of your sophomore year with only freshman grades to add to your high school record & test scores. I think most Ivies look for a compelling reason for the transfer, so you may want to start working on that essay if you haven’t already.

Good luck.

Well this was your OP

Not the clearest question I’ve ever seen. Maybe you should reread it. If you had a decent gpa and score (Ivy level) why would you want them to ignore it?

Then this:

To me that is a different question, and since we previously replied that Ivies consider your HS info as a transfer, it would seem there may not be a good answer.
