I got an email from UCSB about applying for finacial aid and Cal grant. I already finished with Fafsa about a month ago, but I have no clue on anything about Cal grant. My high school helped me on applying for Cal grant for CC, so this is pretty new to me. Earlier today I asked my counselor for help, but she said that applying Cal grant should be somewhere on the fafsa application. I checked my fafsa application twice and there isn't anything there that relates to cal grant. If anyone can answer my question, I would be greatly appricated :D

You don’t do anything except submit your fafsa. Your cc should submit your GPA electronically automatically. You can check this by creating a webgrants account which you can find a link to on the calgrants website or just google. It is very simple

Does anyone know if the Cal Grant is like the Blue and Gold Plan? If your family makes over 80,000, does that automatically disqualify you for the cal grant?

i submitted my fafsa, and even recieved my SAR, but when i check on my cal grant status, it said that it haven’t received my fafsa info yet, and the cal grant deadline is today. is this something i should be concerned about or the system is just lagging?

you had to tell your financial aid that you wanted cal grant otherwise they wouldn’t know that you wanted to apply for a cal grant!

@CosmicBubble …really? I went to the webgrants website and it told me that they had received my GPA from my CC. I still had to tell my CC that I wanted to apply for a cal grant even though they had sent my GPA? Can anyone else verify this?

@cosmicbubble is incorrect. As long as you listed a California school in your FAFSA app, it should be automatically forwarded to the calgrant people. When did you submit your FAFSA? It can take a couple weeks for it to show that they have received it. I would shoot them an email though to make sure everything is okay.

^ Not really, if it was sent automatically without you telling your school, I assume then that is a renewal application. Otherwise you would have had to inform your school to send it to them.

^^Nope, this is my first time ever in my life signing up for FAFSA and CalGrant got my GPA

Yes your CC should send everyone’s GPA automatically. You do not need to ask them. Also the OP stated that calgrant has received his GPA. It is the FAFSA that he said is marked as missing. Your school has nothing to do with sending over your FAFSA application.
