I am OOS so I am wondering.

its basically a weighted gpa, except that it's capped at 8 weighted semesters

It's also only the A-G core classes.

No electives

Is Band an elective?

So AP and Honors are weighted up a point

For example, If I satisfy the "Visual and Performing Arts" My freshmen year, would the other Visual and Performing Arts from my sophomore year not go into my UC GPA?

Explain Semesters? Is that like a quarter grade or a year grade?

is your high school not on a semester system? two academic terms, one running from august-christmas break, the other from january-june. neither a quarter nor a year.

No...We are graded weird.

We have 4 quarters as well as a mid term test and a final test(both count as 1/2 of a quarter) and a YEAR grade.

All the A-G Courses from your sophomore and junior year are calculated in the UC GPA.

Only UC-Approved Honors/APs are allowed the extra point. It is capped at 8 points.

So let me get this right....OK Since my Fine Art requirements are filled in 9th grade, it doesn't have to be in my UC GPA.

When I weight AP/Honors 8 courses up 1 point?
So if you got straight As you would have a 5.0?
Straight Bs- 4.0 ?
...etc.?

Because I have a 4.3 or something(screw you English)

Also I don't have a "AP" Physics class offered at my school, so if I took the AP test and still got a 5 on it, Could I claim an A in the class?
Well the Physics "isn't " AP, but it give college credit to our state university, I imagine it transfers and it averaged as an honors class....?

Is a 4.3 good enough for say UCLA or UCSD?

I like the whole up a point system...It rewards advanced classes which is fair

Negative. the ap credit will transfer but the class will not count as honors or ap since the two are independent of each other.

You'll be very competitive in terms of GPA, but you're still going to need other things to stand out.

It's on the UCOP website.

So basically you could be all B student in all Honors or AP class, but in the UC system you are a 4.0 student?

I did find it odd that UCal and UCLA had like 4.2 or 4.3

^only up to 8 points.

I forget, but is it per class or per semester?

The 8 points limit is just to prevent extra classes from being rewarded right?
