How Do I Change My Dorm?

I saw the profiles of my roommates and it's the complete opposite of my own. I'm stuck with four guys in a townhouse way up campus away from the ILR buildings, I know I'm probably not going to enjoy it much and am trying to find ways to study abroad to get away if I can't change my dorm hall.

Does anybody know how I can switch before I'm stuck with this for the year? I'd really prefer to be on the West Campus in House 4 if possible. Has anybody successfully changed before or is it fruitless? I'm a transfer fyi.

Please don't bother telling me how the townhouses are fine and whatnot, I'd appreciate constructive comments on getting out.

About 2 weeks into the semester you can inquire about available rooms on West (the housing office does a room census). If you can find a room, you pay a $100 fee and the switch happens. Keep in mind that priority will most likely go to students who were placed in temporary housing (those placed in lounges).

Also...I heard somewhere that you can't do a semester abroad until you have at least 30 (or is it 60) credits.....but don't take my word for it.
