How do I demonstrate interest?

WashU is honestly one of my first choices, if not my first choice. I want to show them that I'm interested, but I don't know if it's feasible to fly out to St. Louis from Philadelphia just to visit when I don't know if I'll even get in. How can I show them I truly am very interested? Does filling out scholarship applications do this? I've seen this mentioned as a suggestion.

I've heard stories on here about people visiting, doing overnights, etc. with great stats and STILL getting rejected, so I don't think I can justify flying out to visit with the hopes that it will help me a lot. Thanks a lot!

You can contact your regional admission person and introduce yourself, ask questions that are important to you/ but not those ones you could easily find on their website/
find if this school will be represented at your nearby college fairs. Some schools do travel for presentation in different states so you might have easier time attending such event close to your home. Some schools will help to pay for your overnight visit- you might want to ask.
Interview with alumni is another option to show your interest.
