As a self-studier, I don’t have anybody to teach me how to do a DBQ. I know what a DBQ is but I’m not sure how to do it well. I’ve never done an AP history exam.
I would suggest looking up “Tom Richey AP History DBQ” in youtube. All three AP History courses follow the same rubric, which is based on a 7 point system and contains 7 documents. The points on the rubric include: synthesis, outside evidence, contextualization, thesis, outside information, use of 6 documents, and POV/CAP on 4 documents.
You should familiarize yourself with writing a DBQ timed because you will have 90 minutes to do the DBQ and LEQ and are suggested (and given a warning by the proctor) to spend 15 minutes reading the DBQ documents, 40 minutes writing the DBQ and the remaining 35 minutes on the LEQ (these are just suggestions announced by the proctor and seem to work for me).
You can DM me with any questions on the DBQ. I am taking Euro exam in May.
