How do I explain my volunteer and such on my college application?

I will see explanations of good apps where they say this person started their own business and that person created some sort of good will foundation, etc. I have done some greats things too. But I feel like my application is just a list of things I have done. I have done so much, then it all comes down to a list.

One thing in particular I am thinking of right now is my volunteer work. My younger sibs were taking science daycamp. I saw a need and asked if they would like me as a volunteer. They took me up on it. Ever since, I spend half my summers working fulltime, as a volunteer, teaching summer camp to these children at an outdoor environmental place. I was the first volunteer who was school aged. In the beginning, I was told they would love to get more volunteers. Since I started, several others who saw me there have started volunteering.

But how do I explain this part of me? How do I stop being a list and become someone colleges want?

You might like to talk about it in your essays. Often there is a short answer of about 250 to 300 words to talk about an EC.

If there isn’t an appropriate supplemental EC essay in your apps, you can include this information in the Additional Information section.
