How do I find/get my Access Orange number?

I need to check my application status, but I don't have my Access code. I did the paper application.

D received an email on Nov 6 with a link to the status checker website where the access code is your birthday MM/DD/YYYY format. She then received a seperate email today with her myslice access code/NetID and a link to the myslice section of the syracuse website where among other things she can check her financial aid status and any necessary documentation Syracuse may need for Financial Aid. So there are two different sites Syracuse will contact you about.

here’s the the link to login using AccessOrange number - password mm/dd/yyyy (as advertised on webpage:

http://admissions.syr.edu/rf/mm/mmug.cfm</a></p>

it’s for checking for any missing materials. according to login page, this number was sent when you get a “missing materials” card in the mail.

DS received an AccessOrange number in a letter back in April when he inquired and registered interest with Admissions Office. Visited in May and he knew this was where he wanted to go.

We received various info and announcements throughout summer and fall. But didn’t know how and what to do with this number since the letter didn’t have a link to use for login.

He’s applying ED and submitted CommonApp back on Nov 1 (old deadline). Somewhere on the application it asked for this number - don’t recall where or maybe it was on some paper forms for teacher recs or secondary reports. Of course, went crazy looking for this letter and knew it was somewhere…

Looking at the admissions website during this process, still didn’t know where to how to make use of this number - no link to check application status, update profile, interest, etc. little confusing.

DS received email to confirm receipt of application shortly after. He got the link to the login page since he knows how to check the application status using his AccessOrange number. i found the link by searching on collegeconfidential for “AccessOrange” and found similar questions in prior posts from last year.

But we haven’t received the MySlice/NetId to check out financial aid, though. Is this created by users or is it provided? think CSS/Profile is required by 12/1 for ED and FAFSA by 1/1.

Also, are 1st quarter Senior grades required for ED?

He received email that this was still missing about week after applying (1st week nov). Secondary school report, rec’s, test scores were received. He logged in to check app status and still showing that it’s missing. He just received his quarter grades and was sick during last week of quarter with flu (as was very large percentage of school). Teachers were directed to enter grade of “0” for any unfinished work (tests, quizes, projects) and update when the work was completed. grades would be updated with corrections. He’s recovered and work is all done. but don’t know with update on grades. Also, checked with guidance office - our school sends official transcript up to junior year and senior mid-year reports. No quarter reports.

Has anyone else got request for 1st quarter senior grades for ED applicants?

good luck to all and thanks in advance for any insights.

racking my memory (and that’s a tall order)…if I remember correctly, access orange is used to notify applicants upon decision…no idea about 1st quarter grades for ED…

have to run, but when I return, I’ll let you know about myslice…you can call admissions though about it; they are very helpful

BeagleGal1 - D received the financial aid link in an email, the number was provided in the email and in the process of registering for the “Financial Aid Portfolio” you are given access number to the myslice, but D can only see the financial aid portion of the Myslice at this point, the other links are there but not clickable, if that makes sense.

BeagleGal1- I applied ED and sent my 1st marking period grades about a week after I sent everything else. I’m pretty sure they’re mandatory, hope that helps! gl to DS, which school is he applying to?

thanks so much to everyone for their quick reply!

was writing my post when DS dropped when headed to school this early morning. Of course, he was wondering what I was doing and asked him if he received any email concerning login for financial aid. and yup- there was one! should have asked earlier and felt guilty being this overanxious mom. He forwarded the email and quickly rushed out the door-should have known.

had problems setting up the NetId on a mac and when we went to a pc, much better. Was able to create the id and take a look at the profile - nothing there yet, of course. Must have watched the network security video at least 3 times - can confirm that Spybot and Adaware are great for catching malicious and pesky software.

guess we got some work this weekend - CSS/Profile is due on 12/1 along with copy of tax returns.

also, thanks for the info, Shesthesummer, about 1st quarter grades! DS’s grades should be updated for his makeups. the problem is that our school deals only in paper and have their own special form that they developed. Will need to pry it out of them in sending the grades (sigh).

DS is applying to Engineering with second choice to I-School. He got really interested in computer science after take intro course as soph and AP ComputerSci AB as junior. Teacher was great and very committed to students. It was rough at beginning, but he got the hang of it and really liked it. fingers crossed for december.

Somehow he knew SU was his school. His cousin attended when the Orange won ncaa bball championship. went to graduation, saw bill clinton and been a fan forever. Sister went to school about 1hr or so away and is not afraid of central NY weather, i guess. visited campus in May and it all came back to him. this was it.

Good luck to all and good news to everyone (especially for all ED’ers!)!

update: called admissions to find out about need for 1st quarter senior grades - it’s getting late and know it takes some time for my school to send them, if possible.

spoke with admissions and asked them to check status of app. they said it was “complete”…hmmm, when we had logged using his AccessOrange number, it said app was incomplete and missing 1st quarter grades. Asked the person about this discrepancy, she said the application is complete, will be under review and will hear mid to end of december. she sounded pretty clear cut - was near 5pm on Friday probably after long day talking with prospects (parents) on phone. she was very nice and helpful, but clear.

this was confusing but taking admissions’ word for it. DS took community college course in summer and asked if transcript was received since there was a mix-up? - yes. would they like to see results of community college placement tests (he had placed in honors, etc.) - no, it would be like comparing apples and oranges - just the standard SAT tests, please. did they get the rec’s (just in case since they were paper-based)? - yes. racked my brain for any more questions to ask since i had waited in the phone queue for a little bit. that was it - sounds like it was in their hands now.

so, we’ll get busy with the financial aid forms and sit tight for mid-december. the suspense will keep us on edge.

again, best of luck to all and hoping to hear good words during the holiday season for everyone!

I’m a bit confused…if my school sends out report cards every six weeks then I just send the first one? My status says incomplete due to the 1st senior mrkng period grades or whatever. But I thought that was for 1st semester grades?? Hopefully I haven’t been waiting for my semester grades to come out for no reason…
