How do I find out what colleges in NorthEast students will not be required to take foreign Language?

Son had several years in HS and did not fair well, definetly hurt GPA. Did well in everything else and doesn’t want t0 have to take in college.

Are there colleges that do not require as part of Curriculum ?

Thank you

Brown, MIT, Amherst.

What intended major?

Engineering divisions at larger schools are less likely to require foreign language than arts and sciences divisions.

Communications Major

If I have read this correctly, Bridgewater State does not require a language: http://catalog.bridgew.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=10&poid=2781

I never did that well in high school language classes but really improved in an immersive situation. Would he consider doing a summer program at a place like the Concordia language villages?

Knowledge of one or more foreign languages would actually be useful for a communications major.

It might be helpful if we knew approximately the level of school the student is aiming for. There are worlds of difference between Brown/MIT and Bridgewater State.

I believe that at many schools communications majors can take ASL.

At the 20 or so colleges my kids applied to between them the majority did NOT require a language. So this is a rather broad question. This is not the right question for your first filter on colleges.
