How do I find the acceptance rates for each major?

Hi all, I’d like to find the acceptance rates for the majors at colleges (especially impacted majors like CS!). Do I need to email them or is it online and if so where?

Here’s a site where you can find average GPA and test scores for admitted engineering majors. I would think CS would be similar at many schools. Might be a good starting point.

Depends on the college as to whether they show admissions stats by major, by division, or just for the entire college.

Niche has a graph where you can see admissions and rejections by major, but you have to sign up for an account.

@NYC2018nyc and @taverngirl These are helpful seeing the avg sat scores and gpa for the major, but is there anyway to find the actual acceptance rate? Like for example maybe the college has a 60% acceptance rate, but being a flagship comp sci school its CS acceptance rate is only 20% and x many people applied with x many people getting in, etc … I’m trying to find that out as well.

Regardless, thank you so much for the extra information and sites.

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major is an example of what you are looking for for transfer students.

http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/california-state-university-general/2150136-csus-that-publish-past-admission-thresholds.html has some examples of past admission thresholds by major when applicable.

@durban: Which schools are you targeting? I am most familiar with California schools (Cal states and UC’s). @ucbalumnus posted some information if California UC’s or CSU’s are your targets. UCI does list average SAT/GPA and acceptance rate by majors but few of the other schools will list such comprehensive data. Cal Poly SLO gives acceptance projections by major and lists average SLO GPA and test scores by college. You really have to do some digging to get a lot of the information you are seeking. If you list schools of interest, CC posters could help you with the research.

UIUC and Purdue come under this description. I have found data on their CS acceptance rates through news articles and press releases issued by those (and other) universities. It is not easy information to find.

@Groundwork2022 If you could link me to any of those articles I would really appreciate!! I wonder if Purdue CS is Target or Reach.
