My question is very few people actually get to know a dean of an indivdual college personally at a large school like the one I go to currently (Michigan State), so how am I supposed to get a recommendation and word of good standing if all the dean knows about me is my GPA and number of credits I'm taking?

bump******

I think in some cases (common app) an Academic Advisor can fill out the "College Official Report"

I just went to my academic advisor. It went fine. She has seen the form before.

Some of the Dean Forms just want verification that you are in good standing. If it appears to want an actual substantive recommendation, the Dean will contact an advisor, or you can ask the Dean (or dean's administrative asst) what type of info s/he would like from you in order to complete the form.

yeah thanks for the responses guys, Andale you were apparently right I talked to the Dean's Assitant and she was very nice about it, and promised to write a good rec
