Wouldn't it be too late to wait til move in weekend to meet with a counselor?

I think you should be calling an academic adviser instead of asking on college confidential lol

I’m in the same situation as you, picordy - I had no intentions of going to orientation.

If you don’t already know, your pass time is already scheduled for you - pass times are the times you’re allowed to register for classes on GOLD[/url">https://my.sa.ucsb.edu/gold/Login.aspx"]GOLD. You can check your Pass 2 time if you login to GOLD and clicking the “Registration Info” button on the left side column. Make sure you change the quarter to “Fall 2012”! You can do that under the banner where there’s a drop-down menu next to “Quarter:”.

It will say “Registration Pass 2:” and list the timeframe (date and time) in which you’re able to add classes…

Regarding getting consultation from counselors, I, personally, plan to call them before my pass time and get advice as to what classes I should sign up for. It’s probably going to take an appointment, so get on that right away. Either call a freshman adviser, or call a person in your major department to assist you. If they’re the freshman adviser in your major department, even better - go for that person, because he/she will DEFINITELY be able to direct you in the right direction.

Luck to you. =]

Just so you know the next pass time begins on 9/21 at 5pm. Thats when you can start registering for classes if you haven’t already done so.

yeah, good luck since no classes are available.

sr16xy, that might be your own pass time. My pass time is different.

You can find your designated pass time by logging onto GOLD.

[Mission Statement](http://www.sa.ucsb.edu/orientation/Mission/index.aspx)

Scroll down on this website, and click on the pdf’s to get an idea on what classes to choose.

We looked through these pdf’s at our advising sessions at orientation, and they give you a general idea on what classes you need in order to graduate and such.

UPDATE:

So I called my college adviser for the Engineering department, and he said that he’d help me get my classes by registering me for certain classes tomorrow - ages before my Pass 2 timeslot.
With this, I can probably finally get financial aid and pay off my BARC account - two things off my infinitely long list of **** to get done before school starts.

He also answered a few questions I had about GE’s and such. You really should call them to have them help you.
