I got waitlisted at Carleton and now that I have received all my acceptance/rejection letters (all 12 of them), Carleton is at the top of my list. How can I get in off the waitlist and better my chances of acceptance? Should I talk with the admission counselors? I also got into Grinnell, Whitman, Bucknell, and Oberlin, but Carleton is amazing and I really want to attend!!

Congrat's on your other acceptances!

Talk to your GC and see if he/she can find out anything about what the problem was: if you have any clue what the issue (if any) was, you can address it. Then, craft your reply to Carleton asking to be placed on the list. You will want to tell them why you like Carleton, and let them know are any additional accomplishments. Some people include an additional recommendation - maybe from a service organization, church, whatever.
