How do I get into these universities with my current status ?

Another thing you can consider is to start at a Community College and then apply for transfer. Your ACT and SAT scores will not matter then, just your performance in the classroom. It sounds like that is what you excel at. The biggest problem will be that the financial aid available for transfer students is not as great as for Freshmen. On the other hand, with the test scores you have at this time, merit aid will be hard to come by at a school which requires the tests scores for admission.

I don’t think that in Utah, CC would be the first option. at the U of U the middle 50% ACT range is 21-17. I think Utah is about 9K instate. Diversity would be a help too.

Well I am looking into doing a summer ACT tutoring camp that’s been known to increase students scores would that work ? Its been known to at least to increase a students score by at least 8 points which would put me in the 30s range. And I don’t know what else it is with the PSAT and ACT because I got really good scores on my AP exams with a 4 on Euro and a 3 on Bio.

No one can increase your score by 8 pts i don’t care how good the class is, unless your just really bad at test taking skills and u know the material, but you should try to increase to around/at least a 30. But a ACT prep class will definitely help you because you’ll be more familiar with test materials. If you increase 4+ points from the camp then it will be worth it.

Is a 3 really good AP score? Does your school tell you that?

Buy a test prep book, or try teaching your self the concepts on the test. It shouldn’t be too hard to raise your score up a bit by doing at least 2 or 3 practice tests from a book borrowed at the library!

You would stand out as a lower income Somali immigrant who has excelled in high school. Top LACs are falling all over themselves to recruit students like you
