Hi, I’m a senior and I’m currently taking a Dual Enrollment Independent Research Science class that is branched from George Mason University. I am extremely interested in research (related to biology or chemistry mainly), and I want to be able to be apart of research projects or something of the sort once I enter George Mason next year (I have committed there and I plan on going there). My project for my ISR class got into RSEF and I placed third in my category as well as got a few special awards. I was wondering if that could help me somehow get a spot in someone’s research. And if it possibly could, how do I approach professors or get involved? Thank You!
I don’t think of GMU as a research school at all… have you researched how much $$$ they get and spend on research?
Thank you for replying! As far as I’ve looked into the topic, George Mason is described as a ‘public research university’ and they achieved the top research ranking from Carnegie, the page also said ‘The review showed that Mason’s total research expenditures grew from $77 million in 2008-09 to $99 million in 2013-14’. So I’m assuming they are a university that takes research seriously and hopefully has opportunities. Especially since my research class is offered through George Mason University.
Well why not ask the professor? My son is taking dual but the teacher is provided by Fairfax county (nova)…
Taking 5 seconds to google, I find:

I’ve already seen all the pages online, it shows the programs they have to offer but I was hoping someone could tell me how they were able to join one or what steps do you need to take in order to be involved
