How do I get the last few points?

I am going to be a junior once school starts, and i will be taking both the psat and the sat in the falll. I took the PSAT last year, and got a 219(800M, 740 Cr, and 650 Writing). I really want to get a 2300+, but i keep on falling short. I took some practice tests, and i usually get 2150-2250, but that's with 3-4 careless mistakes.( I can't seem to get rid of those!) What angers me is that one careless mistake can take away 20-30 points!

My weakest area right now is writing,(I can barely get 700 on practice tests) and that's without the essay. I never understood grammar and always did terrible in English grammar classes, so my strategy is just listen for stuff that sounds weird. Dose anyone know how i can improve without having to learn all the grammar?

Dose anyone have any tips for people who are already scoring really high(99th percentile)?
My dad graduated from a really good school, so all his classmates are geniuses, and their children are too. Having friends like that makes him think that 2300 is average and anything below 2100 is failure.

Since the writing section tests your grammar, it’s going to be difficult to improve without having to learn the grammar. If you do get 2250 on your SAT, my advice is: Stop.

Practice. Practice practice practice practice practice. Really, that’s the only way you get to internalize rules and patterns.

Finish the BB, then (if you can afford it) the online course, then there’s 3 pdfs of previous SATs somewhere on collegecoard.com that was recently posted, then if you still need it to be higher, get previous PSATs from colelgeboard :)
