My FSUID and my FSUSN? do I get them at orientation? I need to know because Im signing up for rush and it says that I need them. Thanks for any answers

I received an email from FSU the other day confirming my orientation date and reminding me to make sure I have my FSU email and have my FSUID before I show up for orientation. Here’s their instructions for getting ID:

Your FSUID is the unique login ID assigned to you. This login will allow you to register for classes, check your grades, make payments, use the wireless network, and access a host of other electronic resources on campus. Getting your FSUID set up is easy. Simply go to Blackboard Academic Suite and select “Activate your FSUID”. You will be prompted to enter some identifying information before being asked to create a password. Your FSUID will be given to you at the end; please do write it down so that you will have it at the ready.

no, you can get them now. I’m sure someone can provide the exact links…but I know there’s a lind for the FSUID

Directions to Activate your FSUID:
- Go to campus.fsu.edu and at the top of the page next to the “login” button, click the “Activate your FSUID” link.

then when you have that:

Log on to Blackboard at campus.fsu.edu.
Click the Secure Apps tab.
Read and accept the Secure Applications Policy.
Click the FSUID Identity Management link.
From Quick Links, click See Your FSUSN.
Type your FSUID and password (i.e. your Blackboard username/password) or your FSUCard number and your SSN.
Click Submit.
Your FSUSN appears in a yellow box.

Your numbers were assigned to you once you paid your tuition deposit. Here is where you start to active them.

You can then sign on to blackboard and to secure apps and get all the info you need.

okay. Thanks you guys!

You don’t have to activate your FSUID before you get to orientation, although if you do it well save you a few minutes when you sign up for classes.

^ Speaking of which, do you get to take a break and sign up for classes? I was thinking of looking at my options, then checking this site: SUSSAI before choosing my courses…

Check ratemyprofessors.com

Better than the SUSSAI reports.

Yeah, I was using both but someone here said SUSSAI gave more up-to-date viewpoints.

SUSSAI is not bad. For any class there are 40-50% of the class or more submitting ratings, they are avail for every class and every prof. My D has informed me that bad ratings on rate my professor can be challenged and removed. Often you will see ratings that don’t show up except to say “rating under review.” Then the rating can disappear all together. Ratings from more than one IP address are removed, but if you go on to rate via your campus internet connection, it can look like there are lots of rating from the same IP. And if students don’t sign in and make an account, but rather just rate, if the rating is not good and it is challenged, it will be removed if it shares an IP address with another student who also did not make an account. You cannot hack or change or challange the ratings on SUSSAI.

@Dnerd, you don’t necessarily have a time-crunch to sign up for classes. On the first full day of orientation, you’ll receive something that’s called “It’s All Academic.” It’s basically your guide to classes for the first two to four years at FSU. Required credits, course codes, etc. You’ll have plenty of time throughout the day and evening to check out the courses and plan the basic route that you want to take.

On the second day you’ll meet with an academic advisor and you’ll select what classes you’re going to take. Shortly there-after, you’ll be getting a crash course in signing up for classes followed by the actually sign-up. You have limited time before you have the “Seminole Send-off,” AKA the closing ceremony for orientation. You’ve got about 30 minutes, maybe a bit longer, to sign up for classes. Keep in mind that the closing ceremony is optional, but it’s a nice wrap-up to your time spent there over the previous days.

There’s a window for signing up for classes after Orientation. The first window closes at the end of the month, so you have from the time that you sign up for classes until the end of the month to add or drop classes. There are also more windows open after that, but the earlier that you sign up the better off that you’ll be. Don’t take it as a joke. Sign up for classes, and make sure that you can travel to them before the next one begins. If you can get your schedule established before you leave at the end of orientation, you’ll be much happier. Just be sure to add a class before you drop another, because if you drop and add then the space might not be available before you can sign-up. Add before you drop! If you have a laptop at orientation, a smart phone, or know/meet somebody else at orientation that has a laptop, you can check your professors after you determine what classes you want to take. I recommend not trying to compare and sign-up for classes at the same time during orientation.
