How do i go from a 28 to a 33?

Ok so i took the ACT in February and i got a 28 and that is definitely not high enough for most of the colleges i want to go to and i need to get it to a 33. Any advice? My weakest point if Math(cuz i hate it). I am going to take in September (beginning of senior) and i know its late but i didn’t have any time this year. So this is my last chance to raise my score! PLEASE HELP AND GIVE ME ALL AND ANY ADVICE!!! I also need a 32 to get a scholarship because my parents can’t afford to send me to college so please really try to help!
Thanks!

There are a lot of resources right here on CC, so try going specifically to the ACT prep forum. Prep scholar blog is very helpful. Kaplan has teamed up with ACT and has good resources. Go to the library and check out study guides. Or use the most current ones in the library. I will pm you a good link. Check your private messages.

Thanks

Also, review Algebra II and Geometry content; don’t just focus on prep books/programs(as helpful as they are).

Take a practice test, go over the answers, put the formulas you didn’t know on index cards. Carry the index cards around and review them anytime you have to stand in line, etc.

The current ACT red book has fewer problems than the older editions, so be sure to download the extra practice problems available from the website with your book code.

I got from a 26 to a 32 on the ACT two years ago. In September, I took the ACT for the first time, and to be honest, I was really lazy about studying. I thought I would do fine. Oh no, it didn’t go fine. I had a bad allergy attack because there was probably mold and pollen somewhere. That landed me a 26 with the following score break down:

English- 27
Math- 23
Reading- 30
Science- 24
Writing- 6

I knew that this score would never get me to any colleges I would want to go to. So, starting January, I resolved myself to getting a 30+ on the ACT. Here’s how I did it:

-I bought Barron’s and Kaplan review books. I took one practice test every Sunday. After each test, I would go over what I got wrong and what I would do next time to make sure that that mistake wouldn’t happen again.
-I scheduled my SAT Subject Math II Exam for the week after my ACT (both were in June). That way, I could hone my math skills on the ACT while prepping for the Math II exam.

When I took the ACT again, I thought I did great. Indeed, I did much better:

English- 34
Math- 34
Reading- 30
Science- 31
Writing- 8

So you see, it takes a lot of commitment and resilience to do well. Don’t think that just because you got <30 on the practice exam means that you won’t get a 33. Believe in yourself! Go by what the other posters have told you on this thread! There’s a lot you can do to make sure you have what it takes to get a 33!

Hope this helps and best of luck! You can do it

Do look over your scores. You are attempting to add 5 points to a cumulative score. I would identify my high scores and study these areas as quick reviews. On low scores, where you are close to averaged, study more intently, especially areas where you predict the best chance for positive movement. I verall, you want to keep high scores and raise poor scores. When it gets down to intensity,I would out most areas that I expect the best gain from my study buck.
