How do I help a student get into Yale

Basically this ^ . Outside of general suggestions, achieving at a high level in math or science tends to be a particularly good idea for Yale - having multiple pee-reviewed publications, placing at ISEF, qualifying for the USAMO, or similar such awards greatly increases admissions chances. The student should generally be told to apply early, as probability of admission is significantly higher for early applicants, and based upon analysis done on this forum last year, the student should aim for a 2300+ on the SAT, as the probability of admission increases massively at that point.
