How do I know if I'm on the right track to getting into UCLA as a transfer?

I’m on my second semester of community college. I didn’t do very good my first semester. Mainly because I chose the wrong major and didn’t really research what I wanted to do first. I found out what I wanted to do mid-semester. I changed to engineering for this semester. I like it but, I really don’t understand chemistry. I’m afraid I’ll make the same mistake again. I intend on transferring for the fall of 2018. I’m going to school full time and I’ll be working full time too. I intend on taking a couple extra credits to make up for my previous mistakes. I want to be able to apply to a school and not have them say “Maybe.” I want them to say “This is our guy. You’re in!” Anyway, what can I do to ensure I’m on the right track?

Get good grades. Go get tutoring if your grades start to fail. Engineering is extremely difficult. You have to be competitive to get into UCLA

Transfer admissions to UCLA is dependent on your intended major. The stats are available on-line and it may be helpful for you to review the stats before you solidify your plan. The good news is that transfer students from the CA Community Colleges are given priority. Unfortunately, admissions into UCLA’s School of Engineering for 2016 was 13% with a 25%-75% transfer gpa of 3.82 - 4.0…the School if Engineering is extremely competitive. You may want to consider a major within the College of Letters and Sciences, the largest College at UCLA with the highest average transfer admissions rate. That being said, if you are firm on Engineering I would suggest you cast a wide net and include some of the other UC and CSU Engineering programs. Good luck to you!
