Alright, so I've done pretty well so far in highschool (I'm at the end of junior year). But I've had a few screw ups too, except they're mostly in classes that don't matter.

My overall GPA freshman year was like a 92 or 93 (if you take gym/electives out)

My GPA sophomore year was like a 91 (if you take gym/electives out)

This year it will probably be an 89 or 90 (again if you take gym/electives out)

This year I took two AP classes and got A+'s in them overall. I got a B+ in math and an A in physics. I screwed up in spanish and got like a B- (I'm just going to have to live with one low grade in a core class)

The real problem is
I got a B in band which would lower my grade, and I got a 70 in gym. I heard colleges don't put electives/gym grades into your final GPA, so without gym or electives in any of my grades, I probably will have a 90-91 (weighted) overall for the first 3 years of highschool. With gym and electives counted though it would be lower

-Next year I'm taking 4 APs and I plan to get above a 90-95 in all of them, I'm not positive how much colleges will care about this

-Also I got a 2300 on my SAT

-I plan to write an amazing college essay

-And I have alot of outside musical experience that I can put down as extracurriculars and I'm taking a class at NYU over the summer at their music technology school

I'm just wondering about my chances of getting into a college like NYU. I have good grades in hard and important classes, and a few lower ones in classes that really don't matter (like gym). Without weighting my average would be lower, but APs are very hard, so I feel like my weighted GPA should matter more.

My questions are: Do colleges care about gym/elective grades? Do they care more for weighted GPAs? Do colleges care about senior year class hardness/grades? and How do I look for a college like NYU?
