How do I look for Dartmouth?

I just signed up for this site, so it I'm posting in the wrong place or something...

SAT stuff:
I've got a 720 Math 620 Writing 680 Verbal, but I didn't study; I just walked in. It'll go way up.
I'm taking the SAT II tests for Physics and Chemistry, I should get around 800 for both.

For AP stuff:
I'm going to get a five for all of my AP tests that I'm taking at least my Junior year, not trying to sound overconfident, I've easily gotten those scores on my Mid-Years.

Ok, my grades for Sophomore and Junior year are:
Biology- B+
Chemistry H- A
IMP 2- B+
Humanities (English) H- B-
Childhood and Lit. (English) H- B
Spanish III H- B-
Learning Center- B

Junior year:
AP Calculus AB- Not certain yet.
AP Chemistry- B+
AP Physics B- Not certain yet.
AP Physics C- Not certain yet.
Math III H- A
Dark Lit. H- B+
Creative Writing H- Not certain yet.
Learning Center- A
Astronomy H- A
World History H- A
Ind. Study in Modern Physics (1/2 credit) A

Extracurricular stuff:
I'm the founder and president of the Committee for Self-Defense.
I was on the Science Bowl Team at my school, which is an incredibly selective group of five students which compete in the National Science Bowl. We made it to state this year. I'll be the captain of the Science Bowl Team and the school's Science Team next year.
I am on a cherity comittee which raises money for various organizaions in the Boston area.
I teach underprivileged youths Karate for two hours a week, every week, for three years.
I am a third-degree brown belt in Karate and a blue belt in Jujitsu.
I tutor six Freshman in Physics for two hours, every week.
I tutor a Sophomore with learning disabilities(ADHD) in Chemistry for two hours, every week.
I tutor a Junior in Biology for one hour, every week.
I tutor grade-school students at a local elementary school in math for one hour, every week.
I am a member of my school's Yoga committee.
I am a member of my school's Committee for Social Justice.

Summer stuff:
Last summer I did an internship in a BioTech lab in Thailand, along with a bunch of MIT students. I learned some Thai and a lot about scientific processes. The lab is owned by the Princess of Thailand; I will be able to get a letter of recommendation from one of the most respected members of the lab's faculty.

This summer I'll be doing an internship at Lincoln Labs at MIT, which is pretty well known.
I'll also be learning Differential Equations and Multivariable Calculus.

Other stuff:
Next year I'll be taking:
AP Calculus BC
AP US History
AP Physics C (Again for lab credit)
AP Stat.
AP Biology (Either that or History of Scientific Thought H)
English course H
English course H
Learning Center
Latin I H
Multivariable Calculus
Linear Algebra

Outside of school my Senior year:
Differential Equations
Intro to Quantum Physics (At either MIT or another program)
Wave Mechanics

I do a bunch of self studying, and I show an extreme interest in Particle Physics that I cannot adiquitely disceibe here, just take it for granted that I will be able to wow the Dartmouth people on the interest front.

My sister graduated from Dartmouth in '06, she'll give $2000 to the College when I apply.

I know the deposed PM of Thailand personally?

I'm really just mentioning anything that I think will help.

Well, I guess you’d probably go to Hanover and look hard. So, the answer to the question, you’d look very closely. Try bringing a GPS.

what is your gpa?

Around 3.5 unweighted.
I take a ton of AP classes, so I think the weighted should be pretty high.
I have severe ADD and Dyslexia which was not discovered until the middle of my Sophomore year, if that is an excuse.
I also go to the most competitive public high school in MA, which has the most competitive high schools in the nation.

I’m still here.
Please post.

you look for the ivy on the buildings. perhaps take a hound to trace the scent of beer.

but seriously, you’re as qualified as the next person. its all luck from there. just work on your gpa.

Practice, Practice, Practice… oh wait. Wrong joke.

Um, don’t say on your app that you know someone famous/important. Unless they are writing a recommendation, or it is your parent, they wont care.

no. your GPA is around 3.2 You probablly wont get in. unless you bring that GPA up to a 3.6 and the SATs up to a 2250+, along with the SATIIs (800 and 800).

The weighted gpa will not matter because there is already an expectation that you are taking the most rigerous classes that your school offers.

Well, I have been taking college level math and science classes since the beginning of my Junior year; doesn’t pursuing your interests count for anything?
I mean, I’m taking a class that Sophomore Physics majors usually take during their spring term. Don’t those mean anything?

I didn’t include a class that I’m getting an A in, and I just had it calculated and it was around a 3.5 UW.

If you wanted peoples’ opinions, why are you arguing with them?? Besides, it doesn’t matter what people here think; all that matters is what the admissions people think.

Good luck to you.

Doesn’t Boston Latin have Naviance info? But do beware: Dartmouth prides itself on holistic admissions, and you aren’t presenting yourself here in a very appealing way. Something to work on.

I agree with Consolation – you risk coming across as a jerk. Dartmouth admits jerks, but not consciously. Be careful.

The very last way you want to appear to Dartmouth is like an applicant who feels entitled to admission (I deserve it, I’m so wonderful, of course I’ll get in, etc.) and who would be doing them a huge favor by attending. They’ll bring you down right away.

Unless your SATs go up significantly its going to be tough. The GPA isn’t helping. Truth be told most Dartmouth admits take exceptionally hard classes and manage to have very high GPAs.

I don’t like your odds… Everyone who applies takes college level courses. Your GPA is extremely low for a Dartmouth applicant, your test scores are below average (except for the ones you predicted yourself at), and you seem to have no “well-roundedness.” When I say that… your extra-currics seem to be strictly science and math.
Good Luck though.

Anything is possible. Just keep your head up. People kept telling me that I couldn’t get into University of Virginia out-of-state with a 1860 SAT score, but I got a likely letter. Once again, anything is possible. Good luck!
