AAH! I'm working on Early Adm. for Furman and was wondering how I look...

1300 SAT (640 Math/ 660 Verbal)
3.98 Weighted GPA
All honors classes
In top 8% of class (~32/425)
Immense community involvement
Drum major of the marching band for 2 years
Son of a Baptist minister (heh, sometimes it comes in handy...=))

Any opinions would be appreciated...thanks!

Hi kyle. Well, I visited Furman, and I recall the SAT is in the high 1200s or low 1300s, and the majority of the students rank in the top 10% of their class. You are sitting very strong, especially with a rigorous course load. So, I say that you have a very good shot, but I don't want to make any guarrentees. If it makes you feel any better, ED helps ALOT at Furman, and I think that you have solid stats even for RD.

You look good Kyle. I'm sure you've visited . Furman is gorgeous and the students appear very happy with their choice . D really thinks highly of Furman and if it was D3, she'd probably be camped on their doorstep. Were you named a Furman scholar your Junior year by any chance?

curmudgeon, thanks for bringing the Furman scholar up. I've seen that a lot of places but I have absolutely no clue what it means. I don't think my school has that program, as I'm friends with those at the top of my class.

Well, it's gone now so I really don't think you want to hear about it. And I'm positive your parents don't. If any of you juniors want to hear about it I'll post the info.

I am new to CC and really appreciate all the different input. We are just beginning to look at colleges and my D is considering Furman. Does the Palmetto Scholarship apply to Furman or only state owned schools?

You can get into Furman, I think. I would say you have nothing to worry about, but maybe getting the SAT score up a little can’t hurt. Good luck.
