How do I look for Irvine?

Out of state.

SAT I (first time)- 640 cr, 570 math, 790 writing=2000... I will be retaking this in November and my goal is a 2100..or even just a 2050.
SAT IIs will be taken in October. I am shooting for at least a 700 Bio and 750+ US History..but I only have one chance to take them!

UC gpa 3.7 weighted..It sucks I know..but I started doing a lot better my Junior year.

ECs: I was an intern at the hospital for a year, mission trips to Mexico (2x) and recently went on one in Japan and Korea..may go on one in Ukraine in Sept. but I'm not sure.. Volunteered at the hospital, helped organize a blood drive at my school, volunteered at the salvation army-- these are the recent ones but there are some minor ones from fresh/soph year.. diving team for 2 years, on a competitive cheerleading team, did tumbling/gymnastics/dance for around 5 years, member of a spirit group, and VP of my church youth group.
Awards: essay and cheerleading competitions.

if you get a 2100 and the scores you are working toward... you should be able to get in to UCI. But then again... it also depends on what major you're applying towards... nice EC's tho.

out of state is gonna hurt your chances a lot.

I know, UCI is a good school, but UC's are really expensive if you're Out of state. The only ones worth it are UC Berkeley, UCLA, and in some cases UCSD. Aren't there some state schools you want to go into?

Ugh I hate being OOS! No there are no state schools want to go to...I hate Texas! I have family in California so I visit a lot and I love it.

LOL...my family jus moved to Texas this summer, however im going to UCI this fall. I ALSO HATE TEXAS!!! UCI i went there yesterday for an exam was empty mainly cause class wasnt in sessioon, but still i like the atmosphere and im going der with my best friend.

Your ECs look good. I had a friend from OOS who was accepted to UCI with 3.4 unweighted GPA, but I'm not so sure what her weighted GPA was. Just do your best senior year, and work on those grades. Good luck =)

Hey sublimeee

Your chances look very good. The only problem is you are OOS. The bars are raised a bit higher. As long as you get 700+ on both SAT2s you will probably be in good shape. Because you are out of state and I'm not sure how those ECs will help you I'm going to give you a

UCI: slight reach/match

Youll get it in.

you have a chance.

when i was in this year's admissions thread, i remember reading about someone with really impressive stats from out of state that didn't get in.

it's almost pretty much a crap shoot for everyone, especially out of state.

gohansdemise, at least you're going to UCI now and you don't have to deal with the insanely hot humid weather!

My unweighted gpa is around a 3.4 and I am graduating early so I won't have a senior year... is that bad?

well depends...how ur going to occupy ur time. good luck sublime..btw my brother and sister are living there right now and they both HATE it.

i think it's a match

I had a 3.5 weighted,
2040 SAT1
770 Math II
710 Physics
700 Chemistry
700 Spanish

And I got in.
I had similar EC's, but to a lesser extent.
I'm in state though, so that helped a bit.

gohansdemise-haha I bet they do... whenever I am coming back to Houston from Socal I get all depressed because I know the weather will suck so much. I will be doing A LOT more volunteer work, another mission trip, and I may be getting a full time job as a PVC nursing assistant. I also want to do some kind of internship but I don't know where...
