I went to Forms for Undergraduates - Mellon College of Science - Carnegie Mellon University and filled out the forms under 'First year registration' earlier this summer. I put in courses like "Modern Bio" etc, basic classes(i'm in MCS). The problem is that i see other people's schedules in this calender thing and trying to get good teachers. How can I do that? I think I missed a memo on registering for classes. Can someone give me a step-by step guide please? this is stressing me out

Could it be like Tepper?

Apparently my schedule isn’t made til orientation week :s

The form you filled out is the actual request form that your guidance counselor is going to look at. He or she will then say, “this needs work” and offer you advice, or say, “This looks good!” and then let you register for those courses in August through Online Registration.

What you’re seeing is other people using the Course Planning tool in SIO (s3.as.cmu.edu/sio/index.html) to lay out their schedule the way they would like it to look in terms of class times, sections, et cetera. Go to ‘Course Schedule’ at the top, then ‘Plan Course Schedule’ and you can use the schedule planning tool. :)

Make sure you keep in mind that by messing around with the course planning tool, you are NOT ACTUALLY REGISTERING for any classes. You’re just checking out what your schedule COULD look like. In August, you’ll get more info on how to actually register for those classes. It’s good to have a few sections in mind for each class and not have them set in stone - sometimes you won’t be able to get into the section you want and will have to change your schedule around. :)

What happened to “ScheduleMan”…is that gone?

The icon looked like CMU Sponge Bob!

ScheduleMan is still around an awesome. The school finally caught on, ripped it off, and made a similar feature on their own SIO website. I still use ScheduleMan out of habit… and I think it looks nicer.
