aww freshy, so full of potential...

so basically this is what you gotta do

Does your school have a research program? If it does get in on that shat and work on a project to submit to all the big contests (INTEL, YES, LISEF, ect)

-Keep the 4.0

-Find clubs you like and work at them...get leadership jobs for junior and senior year

-maybe work a bit on the SATs....be a freak?

-essay contests

I dont know, your real early.....just keep conscientious and dont slack

You need to keep the 4.0. You need to do well on the SAT and subject tests (I assume Stanford requires those). There are many resources on this board for studying for/strategizing for these things. Then you should develop some academic interest and pursue it very deeply. Doesn't matter what it is. Pursue it so deeply that it makes you stand out.

You need to be special. A 4.0 won't matter as much. Or a HS AA football, basketball or baseball player.

a recommendation from a US Senator would help.......

Donate a very large building.

Become close friends with Chelsea Clinton and Condoleeza Rice.

I think you need to broaden your goals, and not "freak out" out unnecessarily because of a limited vision of the best college for you.I'm glad you are looking for more information. Maybe you will look at other schools too.

become president of a country. any country would do, really, but a big country would help even more.

forget what everyone else said. there is no way for sure to get into stanford, unless u are this amazing athlete

Win international (or significant national) award or national level of athelete; the closest thing you can do to make "sure" that you get into Stanford.

There is no way of making sure, so just work hard (w/out killing yourself) do what you love and let the cards fall where they may.

A slightly more prestigious school isn't worth four years of misery.

you almost can't make sure.
and you also need luck.

cure cancer-you'll be a shoe-in.

One piece of advice: Don't live your high school years with Stanford as your driving force. Do want you want, as long as it's reasonable, and you'll get where you want, as long as it's reasonable.

:D

You can't. You just apply and hope, like the rest of the applicants.

did u not watch the movie "orange county"?

One does not "make sure" one gets into Stanford. Absolutely no one is guaranteed admission, probably not even if their last name is "Arrillaga". Do your best in high school. Keep up that 4.0 (or close to it is fine too). Try for a good SAT score, though I wouldn't advise driving yourself nuts doing it. Find a couple of extracurricular activities that you really enjoy, and pursue them with gusto (research fits in here if you have that opportunity). Be a good student and a good person that teachers will want to recommend. Come fall of senior year, write good essays that portray the depth of who you are as a person. Then apply to Stanford, and hope for the best.

Keep in mind that application season is still two and a half years off. Don't forget to enjoy high school.
