I don’t think it has any bearing on who should attend, but I think it’s somewhat telling of a few University policies that there are so many people who don’t know how to construct a valid argument or approach an issue rationally.

Good day.

Just drink 100 liters of water at once and survive for 2 weeks. That’s how camels live.

@ crystalknight: I agree. It’s just very weird to me being a child of immigrant parents and all…

@ jonnosferatu: I don’t remember starting an argument? You’re lucky I can understand what you’re saying… Your round-about way of talking is annoyingly confusing and it suggests you might spend too much time spent on forums. Anyways, this “argument” is pointless on both sides so I too will take my leave from this exchange.

^ Maybe you need a nice, cold glass of water.

UpMagic is full of win.

they are pretty much sold everywhere. I’ve been using Brita for a while now, so I stock up on a bunch of filters (from Costco-- they sell a big pack).
also, if you decide to get it from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, they also have this 20% off coupon, which you could use.
if you don’t like Brita, there are other brands, like PUR that you could try out. They aren’t as popular, but probably work equally well.

good question, I was wondering about that too.
but just in case, anyone recommending buying a filter water?

Berkeley is about the survival of the fittest, even when it comes to food supplies.
- To obtain water, I’d recommend a couple of buckets and a tarp so you can trap water when it rains. It rains a decent amount so you should be fine, although you may need to bring some from home to last the summer transition to fall.
- You’ll need matches for fire and candles/torches to transport light to do homework. (Berkeley is pretty old school, hell we’re using chalkboards still and then teachers complain about nothing being cleaned.) You can also build an electric generator, but you’ll have to barter with the upper class kids probably.
- Food is essential to survival of course. I recommend a fishing net, a hunting knife and a bow and arrow. Some people have guns, but again you’ll need to trade and get bullets or make your own as well. Rabbits, turkeys, deer are plentiful. You’ll probably want to make a smoke pit so you can store any excess food you might get.
- You’ll need to build a shelter. I’d recommend what students call People’s Park. You might have to fight for a space, but people there should be nice enough to let newbies share. Make sure you have locks though. Theft is common.
- I’d recommend taking a bio class to know your weeds, flowers, edible vegetables and mushrooms.

Good luck with your classes on top of your survival. :D

the noise of all the telegraph keys tapping out the bits is pretty loud - avoid the building that houses the internet connection, as it is built upon an 1889 telegraph line.

I am surprised Batman17 forgot to talk about the welcome week tradition, where we all bash rocks and mix with water to make our own inks, then pluck some turkey feathers to fashion our pens. When you soak all those cardboard cartons used for move-in, it makes a pretty good paste to spread over drying trays to make your own paper. An annoying brown color, but at least it isn’t cardinal red.

Holy ****. Do we get to do shrooms in that decal? Hahaha
