The last time i took them i didn't prepare whatsoever and i didn't score where i wanted. How would you suggest preparing?? I know in my classes we will prepare some, but i want to make sure i score well. I am also planning on taking some classes, but i don't know where to take them and how to sign up. I live in the PA area and go to Kennett

Practice!! Buy a couple of prep books (Kaplan/Princeton/Barron’s and definitely the official Collegeboard SAT Guide because it has 10 full-length tests). Whenever you have time, do some practice problems. Take full-length tests before the actual one to get the timing/pacing right.

If you feel like you really have to, sign up for prep classes. Ask your friends or check online if you want to sign up. But frankly, as long as you have the initiative and patience to self-study, there is no need to spend money on SAT classes. I didn’t take any SAT classes and did fine, but my friends did and they did okay so it really depends on the person.

Just relax and trust in your academic abilities, and you’ll do fine! I improved my score to a 2330 on my second try without studying since November (the first time I took it) because junior year really kicked my ass.

When I was studying for the SAT, I had a private tutor. While it helped, I think that the key to a good SAT score is persistence. First, you need to get a couple of SAT review books (Barrons, Official College Board SAT Book, and Direct Hits for Vocab). Then you should create a schedule outlining what you need to do each week to finish all the books and have extra time to study before you take the SAT again. I recommend including time for at least 1 practice test each week. I did this and got a 2340 first try but I worked really hard.

Do you have any specific sections you need to work on?
