How do I raise my ACT score?

My highest score right now is a 20 (sadly) and I need to raise it to a 24/25. I have Barron's Pass Key to the ACT. Any more suggestions or tips? I am taking the ACT Dec. 10th.

Thanks!

Get the red book. Period.

I agree completely with Somewhere2017. The Real ACT Prep Guide (Red Book) brought my score from a 25 to a 30.

Soooo goood! How long did u take to raise ur score from 25 to 30? How did you deal woth Prep Guide? Can u give some details @stePabs ? thanx! :D

Well the second time I took it I got a 26 (without practice). Then I took it again after teaching myself more of the math skills needed for the ACT and got a 28 composite by bringing my Math up from a 28 to a 30 and my Reading miraculously went up from a 21 to a 27 (it was an easier Reading portion that time). Then before the last time I took it, I bought the red book and did 5 practice tests the week before the ACT (it was fall break and yes, I have no life). On the last ACT after practicing with the Red Book, my English went from a 27 to a 36, my Math went up to a 33, my Reading went down to a 24, and my Science stayed at 27.

I honestly think I could have done even better on it, but I only got 3 hours of sleep the night before, which is what screwed up my Reading since I couldn’t focus on it at all. I also could have done better on Science and Math too. On many of the Math practice tests I got 35s and 36s, so I was kind of disappointed that I didn’t get that on the actual thing. And on Science practice tests I got in the 28-32 range, but on the actual test I ran out of time (and I never run out of time on the Science section), so I think that’s why my score stayed at a 27. Make sure you get plenty of sleep before the ACT! It makes a huge difference.
