How do I repay my pell grant overpayment?

I am transferring schools this fall and I have to repay my grant at my CC. I thought I did with them, but they screwed me over because they didn’t tell me, once I turn in a certain paper to the USDE then I have to pay them directly. So here I am a WHOLE MONTH LATER trying to do this ALL OVER AGAIN!!! I saw I could mail it in, but I don’t have time anymore. Does anyone know if I can pay for this over the phone or online?

Have you tried calling them to ask what payment methods they accept? That’s probably the fastest way to get accurate information.

CC?

From the FSA Handbook:

After a school has reported and referred a student’s overpayment, the school should provide the student with the phone number and postal address for Default Resolution Group.

A student can contact Default Resolution Group by calling 1-800-621-3115 or by writing Default Resolution Group at the following address:

U.S. Department of Education
Default Resolution Group
P.O. Box 5609
Greenville, Texas 75403

Really? I know you’re irritated, but who is too busy to mail a letter but not too busy to post here and check in for responses?

OP probably needs the transcript from the CC to transfer and they might not release it until this is paid?

I would call the number @kelsmom posted right now and see if you can take care of it today.

Once you pay it off, you will need to a notice from the Default Resolution Group that confirms you are again eligible for Title IV aid. The info will eventually be sent to any school you sent a FAFSA to (it will be sent as an ISIR correction), but the lag time can be long. You’ll be able to give the letter to the new aid office to show your eligibility for aid.

I would suggest you find time to get to the post office and mail this.
