My old music teacher told me I could put my NYSSMA scores way back from sixth grade on my college application, but she didn't specific how... can anyone who took nyssma help? It's a 92, level 6 on Piano, and it would help pad a pretty threadbare application, but do I report it as
Piano, An hour a week, NYSSMA Level 6
or Piano, NYSSMA Level 6 Grade: 92
or must I put like the year etc.?

Thanks so much!

Your HS resume/info should not include 6th grade accomplishments.

nysmile is correct, as long as the OP is still not studying piano and performing at a grade 6 level. If I’m correct, this is the highest level achievable, so she would likely still be performing at a level 6 in high school.

If it is a high school EC, put classical/jazz/whatever piano on your Common App or miscellaneous EC listing and note your grade as an honor/accolade. If it’s something you haven’t kept up since 6th grade, leave it off your app.
