Last week, I submitted an SIR to UCLA, but I’m unsure about that decision now. I’m going to check out the UCLA and Cal campuses, and I may retract my SIR to UCLA. Anyone know the process?
You won’t receive your $100.00 deposit back.
Just wait until you know for sure and then sir to berkeley, if you choose that and then go find how to withdraw from the UCLA website. You could withdraw first and then SIR. Either way.
check with admissions at Cal and/or your GC first. These are 2 campuses of the same university. It is possible that once you submit an SIR to one campus you can’t submit one to any other campus, their offers are automatically voided. I don’t know this to be the case, but it seems easily possible with computers.
@LuckyName that isn’t my concern.
None of the TAGs void if you pick another, and you aren’t blocked from the others if you choose a UC. Change of SIR is not uncommon. You don’t have to contact the office. Simply withdraw from one and choose the other at some point.
Don’t retract your SIR until you’re sure you don’t want to attend. I THINK once you retract, that’s equivalent to giving up your spot. You don’t just move back into a “pending” position.
This is the part that has me concerned
Let me be perfectly clear, I do not work for UC nor is this a situation I have any personal experience with. However their wording makes it sound as if there may be some catch in trying to switch. Hopefully not
Maybe this means that you can’t “transfer” your acceptance, but you can do as you are thinking and withdraw one and then accept the other. I dunno. I strongly suggest checking with the admissions office and/or your GC.
I think they put things up like that so ppl don’t abuse the system, and trust me ppl do abuse the system with deliberate multiple SIRs. But they always tell you if you are awaiting an appeal to always SIR somewhere in case it doesn’t go through, and then if you get in, to cancel the previous one.
Trust me you can withdraw and SIR somewhere else.You can SIR while another is already in place, although they don’t especially like it.
So OP, when you figure it out just go change it. If you feel more comfortable calling someone to verify, certainly do that, but you don’t have to.

Here is the wording from UCSD:
"If you’ve changed your mind and want to decline the offer of admission from UC San Diego after you’ve already accepted, you can log in to MyApplication and click the Cancel My Admission link on the MyApplication checklist.
Or send an email to sirdecline@ad.ucsd.edu. Be sure to include your name, application ID number, and a statement telling us that you are declining the offer of admission."
Thanks guys. I’ll definitely check out botj campuses before making any decisions
