I'm a semifinalist applying for the scholarship. They say

"Look at the score report sent to you by the SAT Program to verify it shows National Merit Scholarship
Corporation (code 0085) as a recipient. If NMSC is not listed, immediately contact College Board to request
that a score report be sent."

So is it free or do I have to pay for a formal score report? They say "contact College Board", not "order a score report." Is sending scores to NMSC different from sending scores to colleges?

I had no idea how this all worked until oldest son scored a 230 (class of 2014). He had actually already taken the real SAT and gotten a score high enough to count as a qualifying score for NM. But, we had not selected NM as a score recipient. Well I kinda felt like you, but I coughed up the money (wasn’t much) to send them a score report. That 20 bucks or so and all the other paper chase runaround that is required landed him 4 years full tuition at Baylor which = $146,000. So what I am saying is SEND THE REPORT

I did @brawny77 ! I’m glad that I did, even though the scholarship seems like more of a lottery than a real process-- it seems like there are so many variables involved, like university choice and corporate sponsor choice, that it’s really unpredictable. Anyway, I’m hoping for the best, and congrats to your son!
