I Want To Know What My Chances Of Getting Into These Schools Are With A 3.9 GPA & A 1460 SAT Score.
I Haven’t Taken My ACT Just Yet . But I Wanted To Know Where I Stood .
Howard University ( Top Choice)
Spelman
Clark Atlanta
NYU
Please & Thank You
You have a very good GPA but quite a low SAT score. Your SAT score will put you near the bottom 25% at the three HBCU schools but you definitely have a chance since those schools aren’t very selective. As long as the rest of your application is solid you will have a chance at those three schools. If you do well on the ACT then the schools will be a match for you.
As you already know, NYU is a massive reach with those scores and not worth applying to tbh.
Is your 1460 your composite or your CR+M?
Not sure about the other schools, but with Spelman they look for good academics, as well as, extracurricular activities, leadership positions, community service, etc. I don’t agree with the first comment because Spelman is pretty selective, with 35% acceptance rate. Over 6,000 apply, but less than 2,000 get in. Anyway, your gpa is good, and i’m not really familiar with SAT scores, but the higher the score the better. Just make sure you’re a well rounded applicant
Spelman’s acceptance rate is a bit over 40%. In addition, the middle 50% of accepted students scored between a 900-1100 on the CR and M section of the SAT and between a 19-24 on the ACT. By no means would Spelman be considered pretty selective.
