How do I stack up?

So, I was wondering like what else should I do to improve the chances for Dartmouth other than my really bad SAT scores which i expect to improve

Race: Chinese
Gender: Male
Country: Singapore, but studying overseas
School Type: Private International, Scholarship admission only (not that posh, just to give everyone a chance thats all, but it does sound good i think)
Legacy: None

IB Grades:
Economics: 7
Chemistry:6
Maths: 7
Biology: 6/7
English: 6
Italian Ab Initio: 5/6

Total: 37/38

Rank: None (school doesnt do that), although i would say i would be near the top/ upper average considering the courses i take in relation to the points that i have achieved

SAT 1's: 1960
M-780, 720
W-600,590
R-580, 670

Composite Score: 2050

Extra-Curriculars:
Swimming, participated in national competitions in Singapore
NGO, Vice-President of NGO that operates out of school, its student set-up
Scouts (national and International representation at grades 8,9,10)
Internship at the government ministry where i helped out with alot of big events

Volunteerism:
over 200 hours of community service at grades 9,10
consistent volunteering for grade 11 (it should amount to alot!)

Summer:
Internship at Government, Turned down a internship at a Standard Chartered because it coincided with the Government internship, teaching a student in maths, various conferences on world economics and foreign policies during internship

As you said, raise those SATs/ACTs ASAP!! Are you an Eagle Scout?

agree with saints, up your sats but since you took it already twice, one more try. if you don’t bring it up, you may have to set your goals lower.

Oh whoops, I just noticed you are from Singapore, so that doesn’t neccessarily mean you are an Eagle Scout. Is there an equivalent of eagle scout in Singapore?

How about your other 3 IB points… the TOK, Community stuff, EE??
If you are studying overseas, then you aren’t compared to Singaporeans. Your app is read by whoever is assigned to the area/country where your school is located.

By the way, you really improved on your reading!

what is EE?

EE: Economics on the Goals of Singapore when it decided to host a big event and whether it was a success…

Scouts: There is the equivalent, but the unit never attempted to go for it.

EE and ToK points: I do not think that it is included.

SAT scores: The only good thing is that people from the school have been accepted with low scores (around 1900’s range, but Dartmouth does take composite scores right?)

Region: I am studying in Italy now, so does that put me at an advantage?

maths 2: 780
Chinese: 780

are these too low?

They are enough. Why did you take the Chinese test?

It’s advantageous if there are few Singaporeans in high school in Italy…

If Chinese is a “home” language for you, you need to take another SATII. Everyone knows that the Chinese test is geared towards kids who have spent a few years studying the language and native speakers can ace it with ease. It is NOT the equivalent of the Lit test for native English speakers.

Chinese is a language that I learnt in a classroom, not my native language, and I do know native english speakers who took the lit subject test and messed it up big time, and are still applying to Harvard!

Anyway, so how do I stack up? I am going to do the Bio and Chemistry SAT test next week and I’ve not started to study yet!

One more thing, does being from a UWC help you? I heard that Dartmouth loves these students!

Probably you should stop posting on cc and start studying bio and chem.

btw, what is UWC?

United World College.

I think that with 780 on both chinese and maths 2, I can submit it already? or should I just go in and take chemistry and bio, get above 700 but not 800 then submit it in?

I had a nice internship with the government and I think that my college testimonial will talk about what a wonder i am in class…

after ED decisions, any possible advice from accepted students on how to boost this weak application?
