How do I stand?

Now I'm only a sophmore but I have decided to start looking at colleges early...

I am..

white, female, from northeast
gpa: about 3.70- 4.00 (unweighted)

right now i'm about 30/160 in class rank... hoping to be in the teens by senior year

i haven't been taking all honors, but i show improvement.

I want to take part in international relations, I have a lot of EC's pertaining to my goal.

Traveled with People to People Student Ambassadors last year, next year I'm going to El Salvador with Habitat for Humanity (which im co-president of)

Im a Peer Advocate, Dance Comittee, Student Council, Art Honors Society (Social Chiar), Golf Team member (hopefully captain), member of Youth in Action, also 4-H (ugh)

My psat was a 154 (which completely sucks i know) but I am definatelyyy doing better next year

Approx. I will take 7 Ap Courses by the time I graduate. Four of which I will be taking for Russian at Wesleyan University, it runs a chapter for schools in Connecticut

Expirence wise I am hoping my work with Habitat for Humanity will show strength, other jobs will be stupid things like waitressing

I know it isn't much but maybe? My EC's will probably save me, without them I am nothing.

PS: I am hoping to attend either Occidental, Connecticut College or...?

Looks like you're on the right track. Good grades, challenging courseload, involved in ECs...keep it up!

Also does anyone have any ideas of what I could do to improve over the summer? Ideas for jobs, experience etc. What else could show my passion for international relations.. I can't travel that much becuase it is sooo expensive.

I say you focus a little less on EC's, and go for the grades a little more. A high class rank in my opinion is key.

Sidenote: I got a 144 on the psat. I'm a freshman though. LOL.

Hmm.. yeah thats what I'm scared of.. my class rank at the end of SENIOR year will be good, but not when I'm applying with just my junior grades..

And I do focus a lot on grades, all A's or B+'s, its just freshmen year I only took two honors courses.
