<p>I know I probably missed a fall deadline somewhere but I don't mind starting later or in the spring term, I'm just honestly clueless about how to get started. I don't know if I have to choose my own topic (sounds very hard) or if I can just hop onto something a professor is doing?</p>

<p>You should probably contact HCURA which is a student organization that helps students find research opportunities.</p>
<p>One way is to look up all the professors who are doing research in areas that interest you and send each of them an e-mail asking whether they have any need or opening for an undergrad to help with the research. Most will proably say no, but one or two may well say yes. You need only one good opportunity at a time.</p>
