I’m in the class of 2017. I’m thinking of taking the new SAT in March, June, and maybe Oct. of my senior year. But how do I study for the new SAT? Can I just use a prep book for the old SAT for the new SAT?
If you have any other suggestions, feel free to tell me! Thanks!
There is not much practice material out yet because the actual test itself has yet to be administered. Right now the CollegeBoard has an official test prep book for it, but many people have said that you can get the same content for free from KhanAcademy. Also, I have also heard the book does not give a rubric for scoring yourself on the test.
You can take the current SAT right now because there is a plethora of material for it, but only if you can cram A LOT because I think it is only around until the end of the year. I also am in the class of 2017 and have decided to take the old SAT just because there is a lot of material on it.
Alternatively, you can just not take the SAT altogether and take the ACT instead. The ACT is changing as well, but I think it’s not as a big of a change as that of the new SAT.
College Board has released four full lengths practice SAT tests and one Full length practice PSAT test it took them a while but the scoring charts are also now available. Personally I think your best bet is to work through www.khanacademy.org/sat as mentioned above. It’s free! After you’ve completed Khan’s SAT prep then take the practice tests.
