How do I study for the SAT with my outrageous schedule??

I NEEEEEEEED a 2100+ by the end of my Junior year, but I have so many classes next year as a Junior.
I have school starting at 8:00 AM and since I live in NYC, I have to take the subway to school, which makes me take an hour just to get to school... and I usually leave my house by 6:40 AM. School ends at 3:08 PM; it might change because in my Freshman year, the time went from 2:45 to 3:08 by Sophomore year. After school ends, I have Track practice until 5:00-5:30. I usually get home by 6:15 or sometimes even 6:45!

So basically, I have school from 6:40 AM - 6:45-ish PM. X__X i hate nyc.
Anyways, I have AP Chem, AP USH, and trig honors, and the rest of the classes are easy. With the hw I get (maybe 1-4 hr hw), how do I make time for the SAT???
I can try to do hw during school or on the way back home, but I am still going to be exhausted by Track and school. BTW, i go to one of the top 5 or at least 6/7 schools in NYC, so the education I get there can sometimes make me drowsy XX.

Can anyone help me sort this out D::?
My current SAT score is 1750-1850 :X
Mostly need improvement in CR (500-560).

You sir, need to read the books by Cal Newport. THEY ARE AMAZING.

But here’s my idea. Get Direct Hits and read those words while your on the subway.

Try to do as much homework from the hard classes during your easy classes. Small 5-10 minute chunks may not seem to get you anywhere, but they will add up.

Weekends are your best friend! I usually do 1/3 of my homework on Friday after school. If I’m not busy, I do 2/3 of it Saturday morning. So I’m pretty much done all my homework by Saturday afternoon/evening, depending on the amount of work I have. Then set aside 1-2 hours on Sunday, or 4 if your going to be taking a practice test.

I took AP Chem sophomore year, and I didn’t have too much hw. It depends on your teacher, but we had literally NO homework at all.

Taking AP USH this year (junior year).

I need improvements in CR as well. You want to study for the SAT together this year? We could do Skype sessions or something…it’s an idea. Let me know if your interested.

Hope this helped!

I’m in the same position as you, and im actually taking the same classes as you! I personally am going to wake up early (5am), study for two hours and go to school. You have to find out what works for you-im a morning person and that’s when I retain information better. Where do you want to go to school?

And Bioboy has good suggestions. I’m curious Bioboy-what is your strong sat section? I’m actually best at CR maybe you can help me in writing and I’ll help on CR via skype!

If it makes you feel any better, my schedule is…more outrageous than yours:

AP Chem
APUSH
AP Calc BC
AP French
AP Phys B

EDIT: and I have XC practice to 5:30 too, wake up at 6:00 for early class. :O

I would definitely follow bioboy’s advice. It’s pretty good. But in addition, I would wake up kinda earlyish on Saturdays (like 8 or 9) and take a FULL practice SAT, and then during the week go over both your correct and incorrect answers. I did this and bumped up my score a lot (ended up getting a 2220).

Wow, thanks for the help. I’m planning on ordering Direct Hits, now. :]
I don’t think I can skype because I don’t have my own computer/laptop; mine just got messed up T_T. Btw, I do wake up at 5am, but I have to get ready for school lol x-x

My strongest sections are math and writing, but they are still in the 600 range, mostly 620-670 and I want to apply to NYU cas in senior year.

harvard12, do you know the best way to study vocabulary, since you are good in CR :]? Also reading passage help would be nice too because I usually get half the questions right on them and 75% of the sentence completions correct :(

Honestly, for critical reading I didn’t study for. I am an avid reader (every day I read a book) and I assume my vocabulary has expanded as a result. The only advice I can give you is to read.

treating: lol, that does make me feel… a lot better. But at least, if you don’t live in NYC, you don’t have to wait for a stupid train for just 2 stops and then transfer to another train which is a long walk x-x and then sit/stand for 10 more stops.

Dramamine: what was your score before doing all that stuff and how long did it take you?
Your response will make me more motivated lol :stuck_out_tongue: and I am going to try to wake up on Saturdays at 8-9 and do all my hw on Fridays.
