I was waiting for two of the colleges that I applied to to get back to me on whether I was accepted or not from their wait list, so I committed to a college that I was accepted to just to be safe. I got off of my wait-listed schools recently and accepted one of them. How do I tell the college I originally committed to that I no longer want to enroll there?
Just email the admissions offcie and make the subject something like “withdrawing from enrollment.” You will probably forfeit your deposit.
Agreed, notify the first school in writing that you will be withdrawing and that you have accepted a spot off the waitlist from another school. You will likely lose the deposit.
@cinadee check the policy at the college for refunding deposits before May 1. You may be refunded your deposit.
log on to your student account. Often they will have instructions on how to withdraw your acceptance, and doing it thru the portal gives assurance its really you and not somebody impersonating you with an email. If there are no instructions you can find, call the admissions office and ask how to do it.
