okay, i just accepted an admissions offer from a school that i was waitlisted for. the problem now is i don't know how to write a letter to the school that i originally paid my deposit to, telling them that i no longer plan on attending there in the fall. does anyone have any suggestions on how i should word my letter?

I would call rather than write and just tell the truth. When you give up your spot at School #1, I'm sure there will be people in line ready to take that spot. Good luck!

I would call them first. They'll also want something in writing. For this, I think something to the effect of "Although I really like [School A], I have chosen to accept a spot at [School B] and will be attending this institution instead" will suffice. Spruce it up a bit if you like. I had to do the same thing last year.
