how do I tell my parents?

I am in the eighth grade, and I reallly realllly want to apply for the idyllwild arts academy next year for 10th grade. I kinda want to go next school year, cuz apparently they're still accepting applications but since I dont have a portfollio put together, it sounds pretty unrealistic. my problem is that.. my parents dont know! I want to tell them but im soo scared. and I know if I don't tell them I wont be able to apply and I wont know if I could have gotten in.
heres the main question

Does anyone have advice on how to tell my parents..especially my mom that I want to go to an arts boarding school?

you know, just like some way to bring it up?

I REALLLY REALLY want this.. I just love the arts so much..and I know I can do a lot of stuff here too, and theres stuff at my school too, but it just seems so much better there! just the idea of having a whole afternoon devoted to art or music, then being around people that love it just as much as I do.. cause where I am, Ive never really met many people who love art like me, and I feel kinda alone sometimes. like there are peole that are good at it, but they aren't passionate about it.

“Mom, I have something to tell you.”

“What is it?”

“I’m pregnant.”

“OMGWTTFFFF!?!?!”

“I’m carrying the child of an illegal immigrant.”

“OHMEHGAWDDD!!!”

“No, actually, I just want to go to an art school. Is that okay?”

Lol thats kinda funny…

It’s all in the relativity. ;)

just calming explain what you would like to do. Say, “mom, I’ve been doing some research about schools next year, and i found this one art school I really love. I would like to apply and go there…etc.” just remember don’t become angry or frustrated if she seems disinterested or against it. just keep saying that its something you really want to do, and don’t lose your temper or she will get mad at you and prevent you from talking about it further or something.

I would suggest Interlochen if you like Idyllwild. My sister went to a summer camp at Idyllwild and loved it, then researched and found out about Interlochen, which is held in the highest regard of any arts boarding school and has great academics too.
