I didnt buy my teachers anythign last year, but with my profs its a diff. case. should i maybe take them out for coffee or something? theyve been really helpful. iw as leaning towards buying them each a book in their repsective fields. any thoughts?

To professors, writing supporting letters is probably only routine. So unless you really feel that they have done something extraordinary for you or you have troubled them way too much, a thank you note usually will suffice. But whatever you do, don't overkill it.

I bought a coffee mug from the school my professor wrote my rec for and filled it with little chocolate bars. Nothing too spectacular, but expressed my gratitutde none the less.
