I'm not quite sure how to do this...I really need help please? I made another thread previously describing my stats.

Just explain that since you were waitlisted at Caltech, a school you consider far better than Cal, they must have made a stupid mistake in rejecting you.

They usually won’t consider appeals unless you’ve realized there was some component they were missing when they were making their decisions.

[I want to appeal to UC Berkeley, what are my chances? - Yahoo! Answers](<a href=“Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos”>Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos)

yay google.

Do you really want to get into Berkley or just know that you can get into Berkley?

I think he is interested more in Berkeley than Berkley

I think if you don’t have any new compelling info, it’s going to be really hard to appeal in! The stats were like 3% of appeals actually go through, but I guess if you can show them how much you want to go to Cal and convince them that you really deserve it!

win.

lose.

Go to Cornell.

just write a persuasive essay asking them to rescind your inferior classmate in exchange for your acceptance.

step 1: learn appropriate use of articles. for example, you write AN appeal, not a appeal.

step 2: go to sleep. stop whining about your rejection for a week. then reconsider yourself and your fit at cal. then ponder whether it’s actually worth it to write an appeal, because they only accept appeals if you have new material to present.

HOORAY FOR MAKING NUMEROUS THREADS *****ING ABOUT YOUR REJECTION.

Honestly, get over yourself.

wow, i actually posted a lengthy serious reply to you first thread. Now i see you’ve made at least 3 threads? just suck it up and get over it.

kemkid is correct
know the difference of “aN appeal” and “a appeal”
stop spending all day on CC forums asking about what to do and figure it out yourself
No one will be holding your hand at Cal.

Sorry you didn’t get in. It must be difficult to accept when you have worked so hard and expected that UC Berkeley was a safety. The COE is very competitive – there are many who have similarly high scores and grades and don’t make it in, Please don’t take it personally. When appealing remember very few (someone said 3%) get in through that route. I know of one successful approach 3 yrs ago The student had 2 Bs in science/math courses in their 6th semester grades, however made As in both subjects in the 7th semester. The appeal focused on recognizing that the the university’s standards are necessarily high, acknowledging the lower science/math scores and informing the university of the higher scores. Also, addl info provided time spent on science related extracurriculars that were not addressed in essays. In other words, address your weaknesses and try to overcome.
Some general suggestions: do NOT state where you were accepted. It may not be your intention but it sounds like" if Caltech accepted/waitlisted me, Berkeley (which is inferior) has no right to reject me" Berkeley has their own criteria. I would probably be annoyed if I were reading your appeal.
The appeal should be factal – Don’t put that Berkeley is your dream school or something equally corny.
Don’t expect the appeal to work (only 3% do)-- move on with your decision. If it does, great. Also if it is successful you probably won’t know until after May 1st. So the longer you don’t hear from them after you send in your appeal, the better it looks for you.
Remember, Berkeley (and private colleges) accept transfers so if your heart is set on iBerkeley or whereever go tp community college first. – best route for transfers.
Good Luck.
