A Columbia admissions officer said that your essay should be so much like you that if it dropped on the floor and a friend picked it up, they would know it was you. My friends son wrote about his experience as a pizza delivery driver and what he learned from people about it. Another kid wrote about why she loves her nightlight. You topic doesn’t have to be about the bestselling novel you wrote aged 15. It needs to be about you, and what kind of person you are.
