NYU has always been my dream school and I just went to a college visit. I want to express my interest in them, but i don't know what email to send them. I got one of their emails for my region, but what do i write to them about?

Also do i write like “Dear Mr. (then his name)” or just take out Mr.?

I asked him about on campus jobs to help me pay the tuition. Do you think this could hurt my chances of getting in at all?

I never really understood this whole concept. What does that even mean, putting yourself on their radar? Will it somehow make them more likely to accept you? Unless it’s a very small school, I really doubt it’ll make any difference whatsoever. If it did, though, I can’t imagine asking about financial aid (at NYU especially) would help you.

Overall I doubt any of this will matter in the long run so don’t worry about it and focus on your app.

Yeah there’s no point in emailing them, unless you truly have a legit question. Anything else will seem to annoying and desperate. Admission officers are smarter than we think, little tricks and back doors into a selective college usually don’t work. Spend that time on your essays rather than emailing someone who probably won’t remember you. Bare in mind others are trying the same method, and you will just be classified with them.

Here’s an email that will put you on their radar:

“Enclosed with this $10 million check is my application”

Beyond that ssingh, you’re wasting your time. NYU doesn’t care about how interested you are in them. Being your dream school, you should know better their criteria for evaluation.

NYU does not consider demonstrated interest, so emailing them will not have any positive effect on your admission chances.

I already sent it a while ago. Would it hurt my chances at all?
