my school does not calculate GPA
and.. we dont have A+ or A-
=---------------
{86 or above would be A here (i know.ridiculous.but thats the way Canadians do it)--------------------
im planning to apply for ->>>
Princeton..or yale.o r jhu
so.heres my quesion..how do i calculate my GPA?

if i got 86 or above on al of my scho. subjects. would it be 4.0?
(if it is.. wouldnt it be unfair.for other ppl)

my average % since grade 8 = 93-95(only academics) (dont exactly know.)

I'm not certain on this, but I here US schools look at the SAT VERY HEAVILY when looking at international students because the grading systems are so different. So do well on the SAT.

Yes, you count As as As and compute it the same way--don't worry, Canadian schools are known for not having the same grade inflation as US schools--so a GPA computed your way is probably equivalent to one computed by the normal US student using a 90 or above as the basis for getting an A.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about your GPA. I remember Canadian schools being much tougher to pull A's in than American schools. There is massive grade inflation here, because a lot of schools (at least in my area) are worried about have funding cut off if there are too many poor students. International applicants often have very different grading systems. The focus will be on the rest of your app.

thanks :)...! i dont know if canadian schools are much toughter than US(ive never attended one)..
but i have to say my school teachers do suck here. (especially from gr.8-10) they are so lazy and irresponsible :<
so im a bit worried about that. becuase i have 2 As that are below 90 but above 86..From Grade 8 and one B in grade 10..(i got so mad at this teacher. she deliberately gave me 85 becaue i wrote better in descriptive esasys than expository..she thought(prob still does) someone else wrote my essays for me.or i plagirized..so i went to the princiapl's office..but he didint really care about it.

neways
i still remember her saying.......(from word to word) it shocekd me!!! ...:@:@)

"PEOPLE WHO TRY AS HARD AS YOU RESPECT SCHOOL MARKS NOT TEACHERS.."

she didnt even give me any reasonable reasons..such an idiot ..just because 27 kids in grade 9 plagirized .i had to go thorugh all this.
still makes me mad/
and another thing that doesnt make sense... i got 100 + 97 in math 11.and my final mark was 93?? did he based our final mark on our final test or something??

Okay, don't worry so much. First of all, colleges really don't care about your 8th grade marks. One B isn't going to hurt you, especially since it's so close to an A and occured in sophomore year rather than junior/senior years. For your math grade, you may have recieved a lower grade on your final exam, but that's not a big deal, since it is still an A/A- by most standards. You are fine. Just do well on your SATI + subject tests, show passion in your ECs, write steller essays, and you are all set.
