How do international students apply for application fee waivers through common app??

I am applying through common app and noticed in the payment section there was an option called 'other fee waiver'. I am an international student living in India. How can I apply for the waiver? I mean do I have to do anything like making my counsellor write a letter or showing my family's income tax report before getting this waiver??

As an International Student you are not eligible for fee waiver.

[SAT Fee Waiver FAQ](http://professionals.collegeboard.com/testing/waivers/guidelines/sat/faqs)

"Are foreign-born and international students eligible to receive fee waivers?

Fee waivers may be granted to eligible nationals of countries other than the United States only if they reside and test in the United States or United States territories.

Outside of the U.S., fee waivers may only be granted to eligible U.S. citizens residing outside the United States. "

Anialways: That is not true.
OP can write emails to the college he/she wants a fee waiver from and they will tell him/her how to go about it. Colleges like Dartmouth ask for financial documents before waiving the fee and some others like WUSTL want your counselor to send them a letter.
If you are applying for a fee waiver a certain college, on their supplement, tick ‘Other fee waiver request’.

Ppaayas

You are correct. I think I misread the OPs query about being SAT fee waiver. And I never said it was true or false. I just read the FAQs on SAT site and shared the information. If you have any other info you are more than welcome to share it. I, myself, would be glad to learn about it.

i read the OPs questions and skipped the discussion.
so, you are not eligible for SAT fee waivers.
although, you are for the College application fee waivers. (provided your family inc is less than $45K)
you have to email colleges (UGAdmissions Office) about you financial income, in US$, and request them to levy the app fee. its pretty easy actually, i asked middlebury and princeton and they easily did that.
many colleges dont give app-fee-waivers to internationals like USC and BU.
many colleges require a counselor letter to the UGA office stating you family income, no of dependents and other sutff, like Cornell.
so. you’ll have to see what kind fee waiver your college asks for.

once you get the fee-waiver, you choose the same option on the commonapp thingie, under payments section.

Could you state in rough terms what you wrote? Also, how much financial income qualifies as low income? If I HAD to pay for the SAT, does that mean I am financially able to pay for Princeton and the likes as well? What if paying for the SAT and TOEFL is one of the reasons?

Sorry for pestering you with so many questions, but if you could answer them it would help. :)

It depends on which college youre applying to.

Public ones like GA Tech and Cal dont offer an fee waiver for us whatsoever.

Some private colleges like Brown and UChicago do offer fee waivers ONLY if your annual family income is like $50K or below.

I asked for fee waivers by emailing the admissions offices. They’ve been very helpful so far. Good luck !

Some colleges did ask for a letter from my counsellor / income tax returns. Thankfully I had those documents. Best to keep them at hand if you really need the waiver and think you should be eligible for it.

Hi, could you please explain who the counsellor would be when applying through the CommonApp?
