Do I have a chance? Thanks a lot for the help

i’m sorry. as a caucasian, you might be expected to have similar scores as asians…

good luck though! you can always apply as a transfer next year!

@dominic99–you are obviously a good student. ojsenga is a student—don’t rely on his/her opinion. If you gave the app your best you can sit back and enjoy your senior year. It is all out of your hands now, and you can hope for the best, but since it is such a competitive school–nothing is a guarantee. Good luck to you!!

Did you apply regular decision or early?

^ agree, if you did ED you have a chance.

thanks alot for the help guys. I actually did not apply ED, I just wasn’t ready to make that commitment this early in the process. I sent the regular decision application yesterday, and now can only hope for the best.

That is a tough ACT score to get in RD. Where else have you applied. Hopefully to some safeties.

@fatherofm, yes I did apply to U of Illinois and UMich early, and have been accepted into the bio programs at both. I applied early to U of Chicago, but was deffered. Now I’m just going to have to wait for ND, Vandy, and Northwestern for regular decision.

Vandy, Northwestern and Notre Dame are all reach schools for RD for you. Good luck, you never know how things will shake out with AdCom’s.

is that because of my ACT score, grades, or extra curriculars?

ACT score. Persiandad is one of the few ACT31s who got in ED1. There were several 31s and 32s that are rejected in ED1. For regular round it makes it more difficult. I don’t know much about other schools but Vandy is very score sensitive.

congrats on your admits to Univ of Illinois and U Mich. Smart move. No matter how crazy it gets this year, please keep in mind that thousands of people would love to have a chair in either of those universities. There are many international students who give it their all to get into Ann Arbor. There are many Michigan students who will not be admitted. If you could be happy at the above colleges, you can apply to Reach Colleges but your other colleges are Reach for sure. Honestly…Vandy is pretty much a reach for all applicants because of the 28 thousand applicants. IF you are not happy with the idea of Ann Arbor or a large college town education, you could throw in an application to a mid sized liberal arts college. Otherwise, rest on your good sense and hope for the best in reach colleges.

I agree with bud123 that Vandy, Northwestern and ND are all reaches for you. The ACT score is below the 25% and your UW GPA of 3.8 is also low considering that you will only have 5 APs when you graduate. Your ECs are probably in range, but I doubt your application will make it past the objective data to consider them.

Faline2 makes a great point about the success you have achieved with your acceptances to UIUC and UMich. Congratulations! You have achieved a great deal during your high school career, even if some doors are closed. Keep working hard wherever you matriculate.

I agree with above posters, both schools you got into are very good schools and you should be proud.

Would you guys consider umich as a far stronger biology/pre-med program than u of I?
