How do my scores stack up?

I recently took the SATs as a sophomore and received a 2030 (CR: 670 M:710 W: 650). Looking at interquartile ranges, I seem to be on par with schools like Lehigh, Villanova, and Bucknell, but I was wondering how I would compare with schools like Johns Hopkins, Cornell, and Carnegie Mellon.

Your around the 45% for these schools. Since your only a sophomore, your junior score will probably be 100-200 points higher. It was for me anyway.

Yeah, do a little studying, and you’ll be on track for all of those schools you mentioned.

How do these scores add up? I am in 7th grade.
M-560
Cr-540
W-490

thanks.

Mzrak, ignoring the writing, your score is quite good for a 7th grader. My score in the Duke TIP program in 7th grade was a 1050, about the average for HS seniors heading to college. You have an 1100, which is pretty sweet. The writing will get MUCH better as you go through school, so I wouldn’t stress about that. Your math will also get considerably higher as you go through algebra II, trig, and precalc/calc and pick up the concepts. CR will get better as you go through higher level English and other humanities (like history) classes, but this is more of an individual thing. It’s up to you to study the vocab, which, at this stage in your life, can be done simply by reading a lot at a higher level. Anyway, nice job on the score. Take pride in knowing that you did better than more than half of the high school juniors and seniors checking their scores this morning.

P.S. My score jumped (counting, again, only CR + Math) about 350 points from 7th grade to junior year. And, even though they didn’t have writing when I took it in 7th grade, I probably would have had a score similar to you and today I have a 780. Since you’re so worried about it that you’re on a college admissions thread in 7th grade, I’m guessing you’ll do a ton of prep and blow my score out of the water.

Thank you.

Hey, What grade are you in anyway? thanks.
